Delivering fresh starts since 2022

Pulling carpet off stairs is a pain. Each step has its own tack strips. The padding is stapled in place. And you're working on an angle the whole time.

It's tedious, time-consuming work. Most people start the project, get frustrated after a few steps, and call us to finish it.

What Makes Stair Carpet Different

Stairs aren't like regular carpet removal. There's a tack strip on every step. The carpet is usually wrapped around the nose of each tread. And if it's a runner, there might be decorative rods or clips holding it in place.

We've done this hundreds of times. We know how to remove everything cleanly without gouging your stairs.

What We Remove

  • Full-width stair carpet
  • Carpet runners (with exposed wood on the sides)
  • Landing carpet
  • Stair padding and underlayment
  • Tack strips from each step
  • Staples, nails, and fasteners
  • Decorative rods (if installed)

What You're Left With

Clean wood stairs ready for refinishing or new carpet. We pull all the staples, remove the tack strips, and clean up the debris.

If you want to stain or paint your stairs afterward, you'll have a smooth surface to work with.

How Long Does It Take?

Depends on how many steps you have and how the carpet was installed. A standard single-flight staircase? Usually 2-3 hours. Two-story homes with landings? A bit longer.

We'll give you an estimate when you call.

Let Us Handle the Hard Part
