Carpet Removal in Tuscany, Meridian
Tuscany is one of Meridian's quieter, more established neighborhoods, and a lot of the homes here were built in the same window, with the same builder-grade carpet that's now reaching the end of its useful life. When you're ready to swap that carpet out for hardwood, tile, or LVP, the tear-out and haul-away is its own job, separate from whatever goes down next.
Pulling carpet sounds simple until you're dealing with tack strips, stapled pad, and rolls of material that are heavy, awkward, and not exactly curbside-friendly. That's the part worth planning for before the new flooring ever shows up.
Why the city's bulky pickup won't cover this
Meridian contracts with Republic Services for curbside trash, and single-family homes get a set number of free bulky item pickups each year. That program is built around furniture and larger appliances over 60 pounds, picked up on a scheduled basis.
Rolled-up carpet, pad, and tear-out debris don't fit that mold. The city's bulky list specifically excludes things like construction and demolition debris, which is essentially what you end up with once old flooring, glue-down material, or subfloor pieces come up. Hot tubs, bathtubs, and similar bulky-but-excluded items get turned away for the same reason. If a flooring job also means pulling out an old vanity or built-in, don't assume the bulky program is the answer for any of it.
Where the old flooring actually ends up
In Ada County, that material generally lands at one of two places: the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow, up in the north Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Road, or the Meridian Transfer Station on W Franklin Rd, which is the closer option for most Tuscany addresses. Carpet and pad typically get handled as regular trash rather than anything divertible, which shapes how a job gets sorted and loaded in the first place.
A few things worth knowing if your project involves more than just carpet:
- Treated or painted wood from subfloor repairs isn't accepted into wood diversion piles
- Tires and Freon-containing appliances carry their own disposal fees if they're part of the same cleanout
- The transfer station takes large metal items and cardboard at no charge, separate from the general trash line
- Out-of-county waste isn't accepted at either site, so loads from outside Ada County need a different plan
- Loads need to be tarped or secured for the drive, regardless of which site you're headed to
Timing the job around the season
Flooring tear-out is indoor work, so it doesn't run into the access issues that hit yard cleanups in winter. That said, spring tends to be a popular stretch for this kind of project in Meridian, often alongside other home refresh work, so scheduling ahead rather than last-minute can help.
One thing that doesn't change by season: old carpet, pad, and flooring debris are never a burn-pile option. Meridian only allows irrigation-ditch burning and small recreational fires within city limits, and construction or demolition waste is excluded from that, full stop. Whatever comes up during a flooring job is a haul-away item, any time of year.
Getting the old flooring out cleanly, sorted correctly, and dropped at the right facility is most of the work before your new floors ever go in. Boise Carpet Removal offers free estimates if you want to get a read on what your Tuscany project involves before you start.
