What Carpet Removal Costs

Most people asking about carpet removal want one number. We get it. The honest answer is that it depends on a few things, but they're easy to explain.

We price by the job, not the hour. You know the cost before we start, and it doesn't change because a room took longer than we guessed.

What moves the price

Square footage. The biggest factor. A single bedroom is a different job than a whole main floor.

Whether the padding comes too. Usually it does. Old padding is glued or stapled down and it's a separate pass across the floor.

Stairs. Stairs take longer per square foot than anything else in the house. Carpet on stairs is stapled every few inches and has to come off in pieces.

Glue-down carpet. If the carpet is glued directly to concrete — common in basements and offices around here — it's slower work. Scraping adhesive off a slab is a real job on its own.

How far we have to carry it. A second-floor bedroom with a narrow staircase takes more time than a walkout basement.

What's included

Tear-out, tack strip and staple removal, hauling everything to the truck, disposal, and a swept subfloor when we leave. You shouldn't have to do anything after we're gone except start your next project.

Disposal fees are in the quote. We don't add them at the end.

Call us with the rooms and rough dimensions and we can usually give you a solid range on the phone. For bigger jobs, or anything glued to concrete, we'd rather come look at it first so the number we give you is the number you pay.
